AC Not Cooling Correctly Higher Than Usual Electric Bill

I am on a no cooling service call where the customer complains about an increase in the electric bill. I start testing the system and find the system pressures are low. Therefore I do a leak search and find out the evaporator coil is leaking. I then recharge the system to get it to operate until I can return with a new coil.

Lennox units work great….When they have refrigerant in them. Which isn’t very often. I wish I would have documented every leaking Lennox Coil I’ve found over the years. Although I did work on a Lennox xp17 yesterday, the one with the Emerson climate technologies compressor with the bell-shaped hard plastic cover over it, and it was fine. It’s been in about eight or nine years now with no refrigerant. But Lennox has definitely got some major coil issues.

Wouldn’t it be funny if the measure quick app said the system problem was… “You’re working on a Lennox and it most likely has a leak at the indoor coil.”

  6. What are the a/c tools in your zippered bag and what’s the name of the computer you were using showing gauge pressures? I watch your channel regularly; am just beginning to acquire needed tools.

  7. If you had a link with Amazon where you listed tools that you use, you could be making a percentage of the sells when someone clicks onto your ‘show more’ info. A good way for a little extra income, right?

  8. Nice job: I can’t understand where the damn building inspectors are when they allow those kinds of installations that ultimately cost the home owners huge money to fix something that normally takes about 4hrs. Thanks for the video.

  9. This type job is what makes the HVAC vocation unappealing, and one can imagine what the homeowner must think about all the time and labor required. This was indeed a nightmare job where one can only hope that no further problems arise where the homeowner wants some of the money returned. But on the bright side, it was good experience.
